Re: Announcement of Result of Deliberations
by the Film and Video Censorship Committee

Dear Mr Manit Sriwanichpoom,
As you have filed a request for permission for your film to be shown, rented, exchanged or distributed in the kingdom (Film 1) on 24 July 2013, for your film ‘Censor Must Die’, submitted in the form of a DVD.
By the power of Article 25 of the 2008 Royal Edict on Film and Video, having inspected the aforementioned film on 1 August 2013, and having found all required documents to be complete and correct, the Film and Video Censorship Committee is of the opinion that Mr Manit Sriwanichpoom, producer of ‘Censor Must Die’, made the film from events that really happened; from the fact that the producer received a budget from the Cultural Ministry, and after completing the film ‘Shakespeare Must Die’ applied for permission from the Film and Video Censorship Committee; then after the Third Committee of the Film and Video Censorship Committee inspected the film, it issued a verdict that the film falls under films that are banned from distribution in the kingdom under Article 26(7), after which an appeal was lodged with the National Board of Film and Video, in which case the National Board of Film and Video issued a verdict to uphold the opinion of the Film and Video Censorship Committee, 3rd Committee; after which Mr Manit Sriwanichpoom filed complaints with the National Human Rights Commission and the Senate House Committee on Human Rights, and finally with the Administrative Court.
The verdict of the Film and Video Censorship Committee, 2nd Committee, is that the film ‘Censor Must Die’ has content that shows events that happened to Mr Manit Sriwanichpoom, who claims to have been unjustly treated by a state agency; therefore, it is a film that is not required to pass through the censorship process; permission is [thereby] given by the Film and Video Censorship Committee, according to the 2008 Royal Edict on Film and Video, Article 27(1).
Hereby you are informed, and may contact us to request for the return of your request for permission and all other documents within 15 days, counting from the date of receipt of this document.
Respectfully,

Mr Pradith Posew
Director of the Office of Film and Video Censorship

Acting on behalf of the Director of the Department of Cultural Promotion
